Wetsuits and Wetsuit Accessories
There are dozens of options available in the choice of a scuba wetsuit. The first thing you want to do is determine the thickness of the scuba wetsuit you will need. This is based on the the amount of time you will spend in the water, and the water temperature. Obviously, for a long dive in cold water, you will need a thicker wetsuit. For a warm water dive, you might even think you don't need a wetsuit at all. But many prefer to wear something - even a shorty wetsuit, just for some protection from the sun, straps from gear, and for a little warmth.
Wetsuit material is rated in mm (millimeters) of thickness. So a 2mm wetsuit will be lighter and not give as much insulation as a 7mm wetsuit.
Many ask is there a difference between a scuba wetsuit, and other wetsuits. A scuba wetsuit will compress at depth, and as the suit gets thinner, it affords less thermal protection, so most quality scuba wetsuits use "closed cell" neoprene that does not compress as much as non scuba wetsuits which may be fine for jet skiing, or paddle sports.
Here is an article on scuba wetsuits thicknesses that might help, then check out all the Wetsuit pages to find the wetsuit that fits your needs.
