If becoming an instructor is your goal - We can help. We are a Pro Platinum Instructor Training center for NAUI.
Below you will find the information on the ITP, Instructor Training Program. If you are already an instructor with another agency and wish to renew your teaching status, or join a more progressive agency, you might be interested in the Naui Instructor Cross-Over Program.
Classroom:
With the help of the ITP Workbook, candidates will cover such diverse topics as:
The History of NAUI, diving and dive equipment.
The role of the Professional Instructor.
The Learning Process - psychology of education.
Lesson Preparation and Delivery.
Delivery Techniques.
Teaching Advanced and Specialty classes.
Marketing of Dive Instruction.
The legal aspects of the Dive Industry.

Pool:
In a confined water environment, candidates will review and perfect all the basic diving skills, obtaining demonstration quality of the skills. Then important aspects of teaching skills to others will be covered and tested, including:
Skill briefings.
Demonstration techniques.
Instructor positioning and control.
Problem observance and correction.
Skill debriefings.

Check Out Dives:
In the Open Water portion of the course, instructor candidates will be taught, then assessed in all aspects of dealing with students in the Open Water environment. The Instructor Trainer will run multiple drills with each candidate so they can master all aspects of the check out dives. This will include:
Pre-Dive briefings.
Control in limited visibility conditions.
Rescue skills.
Problem solving.
Dive debriefings.

Prices:
An Instructor Training Program is $1000.00 plus materials and examination fees.
Schedules:
ITP courses take approximately 40 hours plus 1-2 days of Open Water. They can be scheduled for Fri, Sat, Sun class for 2 weeks, or in a 1 week, Tuesday-Sunday schedule.
Courses are held monthly at our facility in Dallas, Texas. We also specialize in running Instructor Courses at your location - anywhere in the country, or at any other location - including in the Caribbean. Contact us for additional information and pricing if you wish to have a custom Instructor Training Program set up in your area.
