Mares Dragon BC Review by Teamsterdiver  4 stars

Having a slight back injury I find that this is a very comfortable bc. The back plate has nice padding. The intergraded weights are difficult to load while wearing, I always preload. I like all of the rings to attach stuff. I find at the surface while inflated that I am being pushed forward and am having to readjust my position. Although a backward swim is not a problem. Very pleased with my purchase.

Although I have the "Air Trim" version of this BCD, crossover comments are completely relevant, imho. I found the fit (size med) well suited to my 5'5", 170lb female frame. Easily adjustable both up and down the scale. Release straps are intuitively placed, and function seamlessly. The MRS weight system functions well - pouches have plenty of room, well made functioning zippers and "click" into place in a way that lets you know you've gotten it right. full weight pockets are somewhat difficult to load while wearing the BCD. Trim pockets are place LOW on the inside rear of this BC - in my opinion - placing them higher would have helped more with many common trim issues. Acessory pockets are med-small, but were able to hold a small torch, whistle, mirror, small slate and a folding snorkle. What else could a girl need? I attached a Seazle quick deploy SMB by a lower D-ring on the front of the pouch and another quick link to the strap meant to secure the trim weight in back - ended up being excellent placement. This BC seems well made with fit and finish excellent EXTREMELY comfortable to wear, between the collar, back padding and placement of chest straps. The dragon is meant to inflate mostly in back - and as it expands with air, it wraps somewhat around the tank adding a very nice degree of stabilization. Very little squeeze..if any. With the Airtrim system - inflation and deflation is intuitive IN ANY POSITION. Thats right - you can realease air with the simple push of a button no matter what position you body is in: heads up, heads down, or anywhere inbetween. Good manual dump as well. Hoses are well routed, the oral inflate can stay coiled in one of the side pockets untill needed, but I found it more to my liking to keep it deployed but tucked in by my shoulder strap. This makes accessing it faster if needed, and frees valuable pocket space as well.(end aitrim section) The BC drains easily and packs rather compact. D-rings well placed. All in all, a well thought out, stable, comfortable design, with adjustable fit, descent pockets, attachment points and and awsome AT package if you choose to go that route.
