Ask Joe & Larry
|
I'm hunting for a regulator. What do you suggest??

Larry:   Well, I've had an epiphany. (Sorry Joe... didn't mean to use big words.) I've come to a new understanding of regulators. Not too long ago I got to fly out to the Aeris facility in Oakland California, and walk their production line for their regs. As I explain in the description for the Atmos Sport Reg, I got to see just how these were made and tested. Very impressive quality control. Their top of the line is the Atmos Pro Regulator, and in it's price range, I've yet to find anything that comes close. It is a pneumatically balanced regulator, and the ease of breathing makes this a top choice for me.
It also has a real cool swivel mounted on the environmentally sealed 1st stage that helps wipe out the Jaw Fatigue from bitting on the mouthpiece. (Of course to really get rid of the Jaw Fatigue, get yourself a SeaCure Mouthpiece.)

Joe:   Well, I used to dive a Poseidon... Then I went and tried every other reg out there... Mares, Dacor, Atomic... But I've gone back to my roots. I'm happy to say I now have a Poseidon Jetstream back in my mouth.
Larry:   How about putting a sock in it...
Joe:   Easy sport... I'll give you the Aeris is a great reg in it's price range... But I really don't care what stuff costs, cause I steal it from Larry anyway.
And as long as I'm stealing the reg... I think next trip I'll grab one of the new Poseidon Xstream Dive regulators. The first stage design is great - using a stainless ball bearing for the seat mechanism - makes it more reliable than any other reg I've had to crack open... And I do all the service on the Poseidons here... and most everything else! So, yea - always been a big fan of Poseidon, and I think I'll start diving their newest.
Larry:   Yes, that's a great reg too.. Overall, this is one of those questions you just can't answer. It's like asking "What is the best vehicle?" Are you trying to go fast?? Then maybe a Corvette... Are you trying to haul sheet rock? Then maybe a pickup truck. So if you're facing this question - Which regulator should I get? Just pick up the phone and give us a call and we'll help you decide which is best for you. Although I hate to admit it - just because I like it - doesn't mean it's right for everyone. There are a lot of different regs because there are a lot of different divers needs. We'll be happy to help you decide based on features, service considerations, price, and of course... how cool it looks.
