Ask Joe & Larry

Ok, there are a bunch of different little point and shoot cameras. Which is the best and why?
|
Larry: Well I've done quite a bit of UW Photography with lots of different gear from little point and shoot through Nikonos V systems. I've learned that it's more the photographer than the camera. I've seen one guy turn out great shots with a little cheapy and someone else with thousands of dollars worth of stuff not get a shot worth developing.
But things have changed!
Digital UW Cameras are the rage...
The digitals keep getting better and faster. My favorite now is the Sea & Sea 10 megapixel job. This is a true 10 Megapixel digital with optical zoom, and it will macro down to under an inch with no external lenses. Great little camera in a very nice housing - and while it's not cheap - it sure does take some nice shots!
 | Joe:No doubt... that is a nice camera. But I realize that when it comes to underwater photo... I'm just not good enough to much care. So I'm getting out on the cheap for this one. If I'm going to shoot stills, I'll just go with a little 6 megapixel SeaLife. But really, now I'm more into shooting video! UW Video housings are normally pretty darn expensive - then the problem is, you buy one for a specific video camera, that camera dies on you - and the housing doesn't fit anything else!
Arg!!
But with the Top Dawg Video Housing, it's first off - much cheaper, and secondly, it will accept a host of cameras! So that's what I'm using when I go out now... and with PCs getting better software for video editing - it's a bunch of fun!
